Burlington Free Press: Burlington Democrats chose Racine, Howard, Condos, Hoffer

State Senator Doug Racine outpaced four rivals to capture Burlington in the race for Democratic nomination for governor.

The 57-year-old from Richmond received 1,689 votes, ahead of Peter Shumlin (1,351), Deb Markowitz (1,147), Matt Dunne (969) and Susan Bartlett (221).

Steve Howard edged Chris Bray, 2,128 to 1,840, in the Democratic lieutenant governor primary.

Other Democratic races:

— Jim Condos belted Charles Merriman in the secretary of state race, 3,613 to 689.

— Doug Hoffer outpointed Ed Flanagan in the race for auditor, 3,674 to 1,159.
